Ranch Farms Lice Prevention and Treatment

Lice are ant like insects and are nothing but tiny parasites. They are a part of nature. Lice affliction travels very fast from one head to another. And if a child has already been treated for lice, he or she could easily be re-afflicted through contact with other another afflicted child. It is compulsory to take a second round of treatment if the child is re-infested.

Prevention & Re-affliction:

Re-affliction or re-infestation is situation of getting affected with head lice even though the person is already treated once. No one is resistant to head lice. Lice treatment should be followed properly. Lice can attack again if personal belongings such as brushes, hats etc are shared. Direct hair–to-hair contact with others and wearing long hair tied up can re-infest lice. If a single family member is found to have head lice, other family members should also be checked and treated for lice as well. A regular examination of a child’s head using a comb allows the diagnosis of lice affliction at an early stage. Treatment becomes easier and reduces the chances of spreading infestation with others, only if treated on time.

Wet combing: Wet combing is not recommended as a primary lice care treatment. There is a very little chance that wet combing works to completely get rid of head lice. It can be more effective when combined with lice shampoo treatment. Wet comb is done with a fine-toothed metal comb, specially designed to remove lice and nits from hair shafts while the hair is wet with water or oil.

Home cleanliness: Special care and attention should be given to items that directly touch the head such as pillowcases, hats, brushes, combs. Regularly washing these items in hot water and letting them dry in sun or hot dryers is very important to eradicate lice problems.

Treatment for Head Lice:

For head lice there are a number of effective treatments. Methods like shaving, combs, hot hair medical creams are a part of lice removal treatments. Lice can be treated effectively if the head is shaved off. Combing wet hair a few times a day or weeks can help to get rid of the afflicted head of people. This can be done only with the help of a lice comb with extra fine teeth. Proper medications can kill lice. Application of lotions appears to be more effective than the use of shampoos.

Clean Environment:

Once treated people are instructed to wash all the home products like sofas, coat hoods, beddings etc. Children should be taught to hang their coats in separate hooks at school rather than mixing with other kids’ belongings. Separate clothing is a simple step that can be taken for the prevention of head lice. Items that cannot be washed should be dry-washed. Combs and brushes should be regularly soaked in hot water.

Things to be Done After Treatment
